The Master Chief complex

Hey guys,

Joey loaned me his Xbox360 for a extended period of time and i have been hard at work building some rep playing HALO 3. Now this is the first time I'm getting to play the campaign (previously i drilled the game on co-op mode when it first came out) and i have realized that in fact HALO players can be categorized in 3 major groups.

First a backstory (for those blasphemous no HALO players) : HALO is the story of a genetically engineered super soldier know as MASTER CHIEF who is enlisted as part of a SPARTAN program to combat a race of super evil alien thingys knows as The covenant. Basically an intergalactic war thats fought over 3 games. Obviously there's a much more complex level of storyline here but this is just the gist.

See as a First Person Shooter (FPS) game track the player as he fights the war through the Master Chief character. Now there are many distinct ways of playing HALO, to each is his own.. however it can all be traced down to 3 main methods of gameplay.

Firstly, The SOLDIER method. Players who use this method are the thinkers of the bunch. They move swiftly and are effective in neutralizing their targets with a various number of weapons. These guys are the one's who get through the easy, normal and hard levels of the game at a normal pace.

Secondly, theres the SILENT KILLER method. This method revolves around scoped weapons. Weapons that the player can call forth an optical screen when using, such as sniper rifles and (some) assault rifles. Silent killers are extremely dexterous and nimble and usually specialize in killing from a distance. A must have in your team if you ever go pro. These players are not to adept at close combat but make up for that by constantly being on the move. As such...

Last but not least. There's the method I (and i'm quite sure Joey) use. Its known as the " AHH! FUCK IT!!" method. Players who use this method don't have much mental capacity to fully analyze their surroundings. They do not think. They are unable to react to changes in their environment and result to brute force to solve all their problems. Players who use this method usually DIE multiple time at the beginning of their gaming experience. However as they grow more and more experienced they develop a deadly sense of efficiency when it comes to killing. This method is THE ONLY WAY one can finish the HALO games in the Legendary difficulty mode, the hardest level of difficulty. Also, players who use this method (and i say this purely based on demography) tend to be slightly overweight Star wars fan boys who are inexplicable single. Please observe

..and as such i end the presentation of my humble observations.
Its good to be back.
